ATS-Friendly Resume Format: जो वास्तव में काम करता है

अधिकांश resume formatting सलाह human readers पर केंद्रित होती है। लेकिन इससे पहले कि कोई इंसान आपका resume देखे, software को उसे parse करना होता है। इन दोनों audiences की पूरी तरह अलग-अलग जरूरतें हैं — और जो किसी व्यक्ति को शानदार लगता है, वह ATS के लिए अदृश्य हो सकता है।

Single-column layout अनिवार्य है

ATS parsing के लिए single-column layout सबसे सुरक्षित विकल्प है। सभी content एक दिशा में flow करती है, जिससे parser के लिए headings को उनकी content से सही तरीके से associate करना आसान होता है। भले ही किसी company का ATS दो columns handle कर सकता हो, आपको यह जानने का कोई तरीका नहीं है कि वे कौन सा version उपयोग करते हैं — इसलिए single-column एक safe default है। दो-column layouts देखने में professional लग सकते हैं, लेकिन वे ATS parsing के लिए एक major risk हैं।

Font choice कम matter करती है — एक हद तक

कोई भी common system font काम करता है: Arial, Calibri, Georgia, Times New Roman, Garamond। Custom या decorative fonts से बचें। Parser underlying text encoding पढ़ता है, visual rendering नहीं — लेकिन non-standard fonts कुछ PDF exports में encoding issues पैदा कर सकते हैं। Body text के लिए 10-12pt और section headers के लिए 14-16pt रखें। Font का चुनाव simple रखें ताकि ATS parsing में कोई बाधा न आए।

File format: .docx सबसे safe है, modern PDF भी ठीक है

Microsoft Word या Google Docs का .docx file virtually हर ATS द्वारा सही तरीके से parse किया जाता है। उन्हीं tools से export किया गया PDF भी generally safe है। समस्याएं Canva, Figma, Illustrator, या LaTeX के PDFs के साथ आती हैं — ये अक्सर non-standard encoding उपयोग करते हैं। यदि आप uncertain हैं, तो .docx submit करें। यह सबसे safe choice है और लगभग हर ATS system के साथ compatible है।

Section order scoring weight को affect करता है

अधिकांश ATS systems top to bottom parse करते हैं और earlier content को अधिक weight देते हैं। Experienced candidates के लिए: Summary → Experience → Skills → Education। Recent graduates के लिए: Summary → Education → Skills → Experience। अपनी सबसे relevant content को नीचे न दबाएं। ATS और human reviewers दोनों के लिए, आपकी सबसे strong qualifications पहले आनी चाहिए ताकि वे पहले impression में दिखें।

White space और margins ठीक हैं

Popular belief के विपरीत, white space ATS parsing को hurt नहीं करती — system इसे ignore करता है। Normal margins (0.75–1 inch) ठीक हैं। केवल formatting concern logical structure है: सुनिश्चित करें कि आपकी content एक clear, linear order में है। Overcrowded resume न बनाएं। White space reading को आसान बनाती है और human reviewers के लिए resume को अधिक readable बनाती है, इसलिए इसे हटाने की कोई जरूरत नहीं है।

इन गलतियों से बचें

✗Two-column template इसलिए उपयोग करना क्योंकि 'यह अधिक professional दिखता है'
✗Logos, icons, या profile photos जोड़ना जो image-based content blocks बनाते हैं
✗Design tool से PDF submit करना — हमेशा word processor export का उपयोग करें
✗Skills या experience को body text के बजाय text boxes या shapes में डालना
